"I work as a specialist midwife for smoking cessation at Southport & Ormskirk NHS trust. We have strong links with Knowsley stop smoking services and offer automatic referral into their services for women within the Knowsley area that are smoking at the time of their pregnancy booking appointment. We liaise and feedback often with the service to ensure optimal care and support is provided throughout their pregnancy in order for them to successfully quit smoking. Maintaining this relationship and feedback mechanism enables us to better support the women in our care, and ultimately achieve a successful quit attempt, thus, reducing risks to both mum and baby."
